Joining the group after the I Will Stay If... campaign, Crystal Jahn has been a part of the BWYP since 2011 and has served on the board from the start. She has been the group’s treasurer since 2014.
“I want our community to thrive and I would love to know that we played a small part in this,” Crystal said.
She loves to hear when people appreciate what we are trying to do to make the Blue Water area a place to live, work and play.
Crystal is an avid participant in our St. Clair sub-committee and helps organize events like Bike & Burger Night and the annual Poker Paddle.
“I’m hoping in some way, shape or form to be a part of all this growth in St. Clair,” she said.
She has also volunteered for Volleygrass, social events and every Art Hop committee the YPs organized.
The BWYP is not only a way for Crystal to help the community, but also a way to put down roots.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, her family moved overseas when she was 3 years old. She returned at the age of 19 to attend college.
“I never felt part of the community because all my friends and family were back home,” Crystal said. “I lived in Marysville but I went to school in Troy and worked out there, too. It wasn’t until I joined the BWYPs I found a place where I could fit in. Through volunteering and getting to know the area better I made lasting friendships and I finally feel like I belong.”
A fluent French speaker, she loves to Skype with her family in Mauritius, where she spent most of her childhood. She also enjoys reading and cooking for her family.
She works as a CPA at McBride Manley in Marine City. She earned her bachelor’s of Accountancy from Walsh College and holds a CPA license from the State of Michigan.
